Natural Antacids
Chewing gum and candy to neutralize stomach acid – Chewing gum or sugarless gum, sucking your favorite candy or thinking about things that make your “mouth water” – the idea is to increase salivation.
Sodium bicarbonate – Sodium bicarbonate, in addition to being useful for a variety of situations, is also a good natural gastric acid neutralizer. Mix one teaspoon of baking soda and a few drops of lemon in half cup of warm water. The lemon is used to dissipate the gas that the sodium bicarbonate will produce when it reaches the stomach.
Apple cider vinegar – In a glass of 4 ounces water put two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and drink slowly.
Oats – Oats are another very effective natural neutralizer to relieve heartburn. Chew one tablespoon of rolled oats and then swallow.
Potato juice – The juice of the potato besides being an effective remedy against gastritis also neutralizes stomach acid. Grate a potato and squeeze out the juice using a cheesecloth. Dilute one tablespoon of potato juice in half cup warm water. Drink slowly.
Bananas – Bananas could be a good natural antacid since they stimulate the production of the protective mucus that prevents stomach acid from coming into contact with stomach lining.
