Home Remedies to Combat Fleas

Always ask your vet before using any home remedies for your pets.

Vinegar – Fleas hate the smell and taste of vinegar. In a spray bottle, put equal parts of water and white vinegar. Spray your dog with it and massage it into the fur. This remedy is not recommended for cats because they hate the smell.

Brewer’s yeast - Mix a little in the dog’s food or rub it in the fur.

Cilantro seeds – Sprinkle cilantro seeds where your dog sleeps.

Eucalyptus leaves – Place eucalyptus leaves under the beds and wherever the dog sleeps.

Orange peels water - Place orange peels and a liter of water in a pot, and bring to a boil. When the water turns orange, turn it off and let it cool. After bathing your dog, give him a final rinse with the orange water.

To Stop Dogs From Barking:

Water – When the dog barks, sprinkle him with water. He won’t like it and will learn he should not bark. Water is also effective to stop two dogs that are fighting.

Let him chew on something – Dogs love to chew, if they are busy chewing they won’t care to bark.

Soda can – Put some coins in an empty soda can. When the dog barks, tell him to be quiet. If he keeps barking, shake the can. Dogs hate the sound it makes.

Say ‘thank you’ – Many times dogs bark because they are trying to tell you something. If you acknowledge him by saying “thank you, Bruno, I got it” he’ll stop barking.

Take you dog for a walk – Your dog might bark because he is bored. Take him for a walk two times a day. He’ll probably get tired and sleep the rest of the day.
